Merger and Acquisition evaluations

THE PROBLEM

Maybe your firm has just acquired another business. Maybe you have just been acquired. In any event, you will be part of a larger IT organization. Priorities will change, reporting and responsibilities will change. With all this talk about synergy, and complementary product lines, what can you do to bring the teams together?? How do you identify and address the critical execution risks of this process, while keeping your ongoing activities running smoothly?

THE SOLUTION

Inventivity offers custom services to address M&A integration issues. We have experience in all the steps of a merger...from performing due diligence on technology organizations, to drafting strategic and operational plans for the merged organization, to merging teams working on various products.

We also have experience with remote management of teams, in case the acquisition is not just down the street. We can help organize remote teams, integrate them in to current efforts, and make them productive and pleased with their roles.

THE PROCESS

An M&A engagement begins, as with all our engagements, with a shared understanding of your goals for the process. Every engagement is different in the details and we need to understand your goals in order to meet your needs. Next, we work with your selected IT integration owner to identify deliverables and timetables, concrete measures to understand when the integration process has succeeded, both from a work and organizational perspective as well as from a cultural perspective (don't worry, we have templates to help with this process).

Finally, with a common set of goals and deliverables, we will dig in and help merge the IT organizations (at your option; your team can perform this as well)...whether that means making difficult decisions about which technology platform is right, integrating two platforms for different products that will continue post-merger, or ensuring that performance and culture issues are addressed as the teams begin working together — all our skills we have already.

THE RESULT

According to a recent study by Accenture, "The lack of focus on IT integration during the "lifecycle" of a merger or acquisition inevitably can lead to a host of problems"(1). With support and involvement from Inventivity, we can solve your integration headaches and help your new business entity meet its goals.
